Lake Tahoe is one of the most stunning places in the world! During the summer, Tahoe is known for its gorgeous lake as well as the many hiking and biking trails. During the winter months, Tahoe becomes a winter wonderland with lots of ski lodges. Tahoe is split between South Lake Tahoe and North Lake Tahoe. North Lake Tahoe is much more quiet compared to the hustle and bustle in South Lake Tahoe. The lake is very big and it can take up to two hours to drive around the entire lake. Lake Tahoe is definitely the perfect spot to travel to in summer if you love being active and adventuring in the outdoors. Lake Tahoe has so many beautiful spots to see and I highly recommend visiting! If you are looking for a more secluded and quieter place to stay, check out the Ritz Carlton located in Northstar which is in North Lake Tahoe. The hotel offers lots of trails and is only about a fifteen minute drive from the lake.
Places to go in Lake Tahoe:
Secret Cove Beach! This secluded beach is located in North Lake Tahoe. Parking can be an issue and the nearest spot to park is about a mile away. However, this mile walk is totally worth it. The water is bright teal and feels like you are in the Caribbean. You can even climb on the rocks and lay out and tan.
Kings Beach! This beach is also located in North Lake Tahoe. This beach has really easy access to parking but this also means it can be a lot more crowded. This spot is perfect for renting a kayak or a paddle board. The beach has a small dock that you can walk out on. This spot is perfect for a nice picnic and is absolutely beautiful around sunset time.
Truckee! Truckee is an adorable town with lots of shops and restaurants. There are a lot of boutiques and a really cute book store. The town is a perfect spot to have brunch and walk around for a bit.
Tahoe City! This area is perfect for walking around and has a lot of stores and nice restaurants located right on the water front. There is a pathway to walk all along the lake. The docks are right there so it is a perfect spot to take a boat out or do a sunset cruise.
Pope Beach! This beach is located in South Lake Tahoe. Parking is only ten dollars for the day and it includes many bathrooms. The sand is really soft and there is so much space along the beach. This spot is perfect for spending the day swimming and tanning.
Emerald Bay State Park! This spot is a quick lookout point that is absolutely stunning. There is a parking lot but it can be pretty full during the day. The spot overlooks the entire lake.
Skylandia State Park and Beach! This beach can be harder to find so it tends to be less crowded. The beach has a dock which is perfect for jumping into the lake. It is also a good spot for kayaking and paddle boarding.
Northstar Village! This area has an ice skating rink that turns into a roller skating rink during the summer. Lots of concerts are held here during the summer season. There are some cute shops as well as a few restaurants. Rubicon Pizza is a great place to grab some food! The area feels so quaint and European.
During this crazy time, traveling can definitely be hard but hopefully places will begin to open back up again soon! Lake Tahoe is a nice place to be during the pandemic because it has lots of outdoor activities. I hope this post was helpful and that everyone can be back to traveling before we know it.
