Rome is the capital city of Italy and has so much history! Walking through the city of Rome feels like walking through an outside museum. Everywhere you look, you can see beauty and history. Rome is always buzzing with people and there is so much to do and see! There are so many little streets filled with culture and art. Rome can be very hot during the summer so make sure to plan accordingly. While in Rome, I stayed at the Palazzo Naiadi. It was an absolutely gorgeous hotel with a perfect location! It was located right in the heart of the city and was walking distance from everything. The hotel also has a pool which was great to have after a long hot day of touring the city. I would highly recommend staying here if you can! Rome has so much to offer and should definitely be on your list of places to visit! The city is huge but even if you can only spend a couple days in Rome, it is life changing!
Things to do in Rome:
1. Visit the Trevi Fountain! This fountain is located right in the Trevi district. I loved getting to see the architecture and all of the statues. When visiting, don't forget to throw a coin in for good luck! After visiting the fountain there is so much to do! You can go get some lunch, gelato, or go see the Spanish Steps. The shop Gelato g Italiano has some of the best gelato and is right near the Trevi Fountain so make sure to check it out! The fountain area gets really crowded so I would recommend going either earlier in the day or later in the day. The fountain is absolutely stunning all lit up at night so if you have the chance make sure to visit at night!
2. Piazza de Spagna! This area is right below the Spanish Steps. I would go visit the Spanish Steps when you want to take a break from walking and have some gelato. After, you can go shopping in all the fancy stores! The pizza and pasta is delicious to make sure to get some while walking around.
3. The Colosseum! This site is a must see if you come to Rome! The Colosseum is a part of Ancient Rome and was previously used as entertainment many many years ago. You can take a tour inside the colosseum during the day but it can be very hot! They also offer tours during the nighttime if you want to avoid the heat. If you don't have the time for a tour, you can also just walk around and see it from the outside. They also sell umbrellas which can help give some shade but make sure to bargain with the sellers to get a better deal!
4. Piazza Navona! This area is perfect for grabbing dinner and dessert. The restaurants can be a little touristy but they are definitely worth the experience! I will never forget eating dinner overlooking the Fountain of Four Rivers.
5. Campo de' Fiori! This area is known to have one of the oldest markets in Rome. They have fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, flowers, and even homemade pasta! The market is open every morning except for Sundays. Make sure to check it out and get some delicious goods while you're staying in Rome.
6. Trastevere! This area feels like what you would see in a movie. Clothing hangs from some of the windows drying, lots of green bohemian plants, bikes, and colored buildings! This area has lots of pubs and artisan shops. The nightlife can be very fun so you can come visit here during the day or evening!
Hopefully you can experience the wonders of Rome sometime soon! There are so many amazing sites in Rome and I'm sure you will love them all! What happens in Rome, stays in Rome!
