Hi everyone!

Below I've given my overall tips for traveling to Europe! These pretty much apply to anywhere you may be going! Throughout the month certain things really stood out to me, and those are the things I have included in the list below!

Sam's List

1. Pack light!! Yes, everyone says this but I learned the hard way. Lugging your luggage off of trains, airplanes and busses is much easier when you have a lighter load. Especially if your hopping to different countries, pack lightly! It will be much easier. Make sure you bring a variety of clothing, because you never know the weather.

2. Always bring a backpack! I got a mini backpack that was small enough I could carry it around everywhere without being a hassle but it was still able to hold my sunglasses, my phone, a water bottle, a few snacks, sunscreen, and my wallet. This is really important because when your gone all day you’ll definitely need to bring some things.

3. Bring currency for the countries! A lot of small stores and restaurants will take credit cards but some will not. The taxi drivers will try to get you to pay in cash but they normally do have the credit card scanner they just don’t like to use it. Most places will not accept American Express so keep that in mind.

3. Pick something to collect! If your traveling from one place to another it’s really fun to collect items from each destination. I chose pins to put on my jacket. My best friend collected shot glasses from each country. Collecting makes traveling even more fun. Every stop we took, I knew what I was looking for.

4. Stay at AirBnB’s to get more space at much more affordable prices! However, be careful and look at reviews because pictures don’t always show exactly what your getting! If you don’t mind paying a little extra, hotels are the way to go. They are very helpful with giving you ideas for the day, things to do, and can help with any questions you may have. If you stay at an AirBnB you do have a host but you are much more on your own than staying at a hotel.

5. Give yourself enough time at each destination! I have learned that the places I loved the most, were the spots where we weren't rushed and just got to enjoy. Running from place to place let’s you see all the different sights but I think it’s important to enjoy the areas you go to. The more time you have the more you get to experience what it would be like to live like a local! Giving yourself enough time at each destination, allows you to experience the whole country. Of course sight seeing is great, but there is nothing like wandering through the streets of Paris and finding an adorable cafe to eat at.

6. Wear comfy shoes!! This is so important. Most of the roads are cobble stone and their are a lot of steps. We were walking around 10 miles a day so make sure your wearing practical shoes not just cute ones. I wore converse and it was okay, probably the best would be like Nike running shoes.

7. Keep a journal! Either do the old school way with a journal and pen. Or now with our phones their are so many more ways to keep a journal! You can create your own instagram account and post about your trip each day! Personally, I love the app Journi. It allows you, your friends and your family to follow your trip with your daily posts. It’s easy and takes no time!

8. Enjoy every moment! Make the most of all your time on your vacation. No matter how long you stay, it will go by so fast. Make sure to take in each place you go and make the most of your time. Eat delicious food, go exploring, buy some souvenirs, and just dive all the way into the new country you are saying at.
