Frankfurt is definitely one of my favorite places in Europe! Frankfurt has so much to offer and is so different from any other place I have ever been! Frankfurt, is one of Germany's main cities and is located right along the river Main. If you are planning a trip to Europe, I would highly recommend spending at least a couple of days here. Many flights to Europe go through Frankfurt, so I suggest planning to stop and spend a couple days in Frankfurt before moving on to the rest of your European destinations.
Here are some of my favorite spots in Frankfurt:
1. Explore Römberg! This main square has the cutest buildings that look like out of a storybook. There is a Fountain of Justice standing in the center of the square and it is quite historical because it has been there since 1543. If you happen to be in Römberg during Christmas time, the Christmas market is absolutely magical. While walking around make sure to get some German food and the gelato it is delicious!
2. Ostzeile (East side of Römberg)! Make sure to walk around this area because the buildings are beautiful. There is a row of six half-timbered houses that are so adorable.
3. Cross Eiserner Steg bridge! This bridge is also know as the Love Lock Bridge. This bridge lets you cross over the river Main. Thousands of people have placed locks along the sides of the bridge railings so if you want to bring one you can add to the collection. Due to the thousands of different colored locks, the view of the city as well as the river this bridge makes for a really stunning picture spot.
4. Palmengarten! This is one of Frankfurt's botanical gardens. So many beautiful flowers grow here and there are so many vibrant colors. I would definitely recommend coming here if you love gardening or looking at gorgeous flowers.
5. Museums! Frankfurt has a variety of different museums that you can go to based off of what you are most interested in. One of the museums in Frankfurt is the MMK Museum of Modern Art. This museum has a triangular shape so it is also known as the "piece of cake." Another interesting museum is the German Film Museum. This museum highlights different cinema movies. Since there are so many museums to choose from, I would recommend picking one out that really interests you.
6. Kleinmarkthalle! This is a market hall that has over sixty different vendors! Fresh foods are sold here as well as a variety of different flowers. This market helps you get the full experience of Frankfurt and what it would be like to live there. They sell so many varieties of food so you can get a taste of German food.
7. Rothschild Park! If you want to take a break from all the sightseeing and relax, I suggest you come here. In the park, there are so many benches and grassy areas that you could sit down and have a picnic. The park is located in between skyscrapers so you get to enjoy being in a quiet area while still being within the city.
8. Skyline Garden! This is on top of a shopping mall so it has pretty views and there is a lot to do! The main restaurant is Alex. This area is great if you are coming with younger children because there is a wide range of activities such as a big game of chess as well as table tennis. This area has no entry fee so you can come enjoy without having to spend a lot of money!
I hope this post helps give you a better understanding of what there is to do in Frankfurt and maybe sometime you will get to experience the wonders of Germany!
Talk Soon!
